Bright Sun, Big Fish!
CSA Fishing Trip 2020 – A Year We Won’t Forget
CSA’s 18th voyage was a nice change for the CSA members who were willing and able to hit the water on Aug. 8th. Thirteen anglers arrived at Dana Wharf Sportfishing early Saturday morning, headed to dock #2 with fishing license & equipment in hand.
Each was provided a participant and release document (in light of the coronavirus situation), and then boarded the Clemente at 5 a.m.
This was Neal Tibbs’ first year as CSA’s captain and he was excited to have Gary & Joanne Quiel on board for support; Gary and Joanne have been in charge of this event for the last 17 voyages.
A decision was made to take the long trip to Catalina, where the fish were biting. Fish counts included; 13 Calico Bass, 37 Bonito, and 2 Yellow Tail – The jackpot fish was Oscar Mercado’s Yellow Tail, at 48” long, weighing in at 25 lbs!
Neal indicated “it was a great group and a beautiful day on the water.”
As nice as it was to have a smaller group, and therefore catered to by the crew, Neal is looking forward to next year’s voyage and anticipates a full boat with forty-five fishermen, women, and children on board!
