Knowledge-Packed Event January 15
SoCal CSA members who attended the Jan 15 seminar at The Old Spagetti Factory in Rancho Cucamonga were privileged to learn about two important updates for 2019. First,David Casillas, VP of Sales with FleetServ out of Fontana, CA, walked CSA Seminar attendees through the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Diesel Regulations and Updates for 2019. Addressed during the seminar was a recap of the enforcement taking place pertaining to Diesel Equipment Compliance.
CARB enforcement is active; they are now working with the California DMV, regarding diesel truck registrations. If, at time of registration renewal, the diesel truck does not show it is CARB compliant, the vehicle will not be able to be registered without bringing it into compliance.
As noted by David in his presentation, due to a lawsuit (Lawson Rock & Oil, Inc. v. CARB, decision final in 2018) various CARB fact sheets and regulatory documents have been updated, and are now available at www.arb.ca.gov/dieseltruck. The compliance requirements for options that remain available in 2019 and future compliance years can be found here: https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/truckstop/azregs/flexoptions.htm
Following this seminar was a second seminar, this one presented by CSA’s Executive Director, Roy Flahive, and covering Title 24 Lighting Standards and Title 20 Appliance Efficiency Regulations. Read more about this comprehensive overview of electricity, history of CSA’s relationship with the California Energy Commission (CEC), and implementation of the Title 24/Title 20 requirements affecting the on-premise sign industry here: Title 24 Recap
At 5:30pm on January 15th, following the two-part seminar, CSA members began networking with cold drinks in hand, followed by the CSA SoCal dinner and membership meeting. A terrific meal and fabulous deserts were served, complemented by a motivating talk delivered by Brian Jackson, serving as a Sandler Trainer for over twelve years. Brian began his presentation by getting attendees to reflect on areas considered to be “Selling” stumbling blocks, then he offered suggestions on how to strategize as part of a larger behavioral plan, supported by the appropriate attitude and outlook, improving effectiveness with a plan and a purpose.
Brian did a great job challenging all those in attendance on developing skills needed to succeed in today’s dynamic atmosphere. Thank you Brian for your insight!
