  • Lost Landmarks

    In the late 50’s, as a child riding in the backseat of the family station wagon, the grandson and son of sign shop owners, I would marvel at the large roadside sign displays. The colorful moving lights represented a magical world just beyond the window.  I would mark our progress to our destination by their presence, a sign kid traveling through paradise.   • Clean Truck Check Program Deadlines

    1. CARB has extended the deadline for reporting your non-gasoline on-road vehicles greater than 14,000 Lbs. GVW under the Clean Truck Check program. The new deadline is January 31, 2024Click hereto make sure you are registered by the deadline.
    2. CARB has announced April 1, 2024, as the beginning effective date for the emissions testing program for all non-gasoline road vehicles greater than 14,000 Lbs. GVW. The program will begin where all of these vehicles except for agricultural and motor homes must be tested twice per year. More information
    3. CARB has issued a new hotline for questions regarding citations on diesel regulations. Call (916) 322-8275 for information on how to process a citation.

    Background:

    Most people know that the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution provides, among other protections, that no one shall be compelled to give testimony that would tend to incriminate themself. “No person . . . shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.”

  • She Did It! Our Newest Certified Crane Operator

    Early this month, NOV 2-3-4, Emily Miller with Sign Designs in Modesto, CA became the first female to participate in the CSA Crane Operator Certification program! Better yet, after two weeks of anxiously awaiting the results from her practical and written tests, she learned that she passed and would soon be receiving her Crane Operator Certification card from NCCCO.

    Emily shared that engineering and creating by putting things together “has been a part of her” since childhood. Learning new things and new experiences is a driving force in her life. She considers herself “lucky” to work in her current position at Sign Designs and the support of those around her makes taking on challenges possible. Continue Reading
